Baby Shower Diaper Cake

Blog Photos 86174_edited-1

My son's teacher is due to have her baby next month and his class is having a surprise baby shower for her next week. I've seen diaper cakes for purchase(a little pricey), so I thought I would try and make her one. I searched the web and found this great video, on You Tube.

Not too bad for the first try : ) I wish I would have photographed as I went along to show you. I purchased a 6-pack of washcloths and rolled each one tight and put it in a small cellophane bag, inserted a clear lollipop stick and secured with a ribbon. I also purchased a few travel size items and placed them around the base using glue dots to hide the seams.

Here's the side and back views:

Embossed both hearts

Basic Black Satin Ribbon

Well Scripted Stamp Set

Pumpkin Pie isn't just for Thanksgiving anymore : ) I love the way it looks on Whisper White...don't you? It's not as bright as Only Orange. I'm making several of these for another card swap. I keep making flowers for my cards these days...I'm so ready for Spring! I cased the idea, from Mary Fish, using a stamp from the Circle Circus for the center of the flower and popped it up with a dimensional.

Have a great evening!

Happy Birthday

Today's card I made for an upcoming card swap all done in Bermuda Bay & Whisper White. I sponged the flower in Bermuda Bay, cut from the Flower Layers #4 die, but in the photo it's difficult to see. At first I thought it was too plain and the more I added the less I liked it, so I went back to the original version...plain & simple like me : )

Thanks for stopping by!

Matchbox Valentines

Finally, the valentines Jacob & I made together, for his class, are complete, with the correct colors (red for the boys & pink for the girls), with a special one for his teacher. All are filled with small packs of Hershey Kisses, because he was quick to inform me that girls like chocolate, not the cheap candy. There's a little girl in his class he's always trying to impress...I hope it works for him :)

I took my sister's project and changed it a little. This is going to school next week for my son's teacher. Very easy and inexpensive to make. Here's how I did it:

Supplies:

Dollar store: Transparent Red Gift Wrap, Vase, Heart Picks, Liquid Marbles, (4) Nestle Milk Chocolate bars.

Local craft store: 3/16" x 12" doll rods, floral stem wrap tape, packing tape

Stampin' UP: Whimsical Words stamp set, Sending Love Specialty paper, Real Red CS, Pretty In Pink CS, Whisper White CS and Real Red Classic Ink, 1/4" circle punch, Mini Glue Dots, 1-3/8" circle punch, 1-3/4" circle punch, Scallop Trim Border punch, Pennant die, Big Shot, dimensionals, SNAIL & sticky strip adhesive.

Directions:

Cut 2" x 7"of Sending Love Specialty paper

Cut 1" x 7" piece of Real Red CS. Use Scallop Trim Border punch on both sides & attach to Sending Love Specialty paper with SNAIL. Wrap band around vase and secure with 2" piece of sticky strip.

Using pennant die, cut scallop circle in Pretty In Pink CS.

Punch 1-3/4" circle with Real Red CS. Attach to Pretty In Pink scallop circle with SNAIL.

Stamp greeting onto Whisper White CS and punch greeting with 1-3/8" punch.

Attach to 1-3/4" Real Red circle with SNAIL then attach greeting to band on vase with 2 dimensionals.

Turn each candy bar over an tape doll rods onto back using packing tape.

Cut Heart picks down to desired size and tape onto back of candy bars.

Cut transparent gift wrap into (4) 12" x 12" squares.

Punch hole in center of wrap using 1/4" circle punch.

Turn transparent wrap from square position to diamond position.

Place doll rod with candy bar thru center of transparent wrap.

Bring opposite corners up and secure if needed with mini glue dots.

Wrap doll rod with floral stem tape starting at the top and working your way to the bottom of the rod.

Cut (8) 1/2" x 12" of Sending Love Specialty paper strips. Wrap tightly around pencil to curl paper. Attach 2 to back of each candy flower with mini glue dots.

Fill vase with liquid marbles and arrange candy bar flowers inside.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks!

Valentine Treat Pocket

Blog Photos 86097_edited-2
I'm back at trying to figure out a variety of ways to present my store bought cookies. So, today, I made this cookie pocket....very fast & very easy.

I started with a piece of Real Red CS 6-1/2" x 4-1/2". The cookie measures 3" x 3-1/2", so the pocket needs to be 1" wider than the cookie your using.

Score at 2" and apply a 2" piece of sticky strip on each end & fold over the flap & secure.

I then cut a piece of Chocolate Chip CS 1-3/4" x 4"

On a piece of 1-1/2" x 3-3/4" Very Vanilla CS I stamped the love birds in Chocolate Chip, from the Love You Much stamp set and adhered to Chocolate Chip CS.

I then stamped the 2 hearts from I {Heart} Hearts stamp set on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla CS and punched them out with the Full Heart punch.

For a little sparkle I used the two-way glue pen on the heart above the birds and the heart in friends, then added a little Red, Fine Galaxy Glitter.

Attached hearts with dimensionals.

At the very top I used the Pinking Hearts Border punch from the new Occasions Mini Catalog.

Inserted cookie into a medium cello bag and placed inside the pocket.

Have a great evening! Thanks for stopping by!
