Happy 13th Birthday Jacob!

Today my son is turning 13 years old. His birthday every year is very emotional for me. It's been 13 years and I can 't talk about it without crying. You see my son was born early....4 months early. Jacob was born at 24 weeks, weighed 1 lb. 7 oz. and was 11" long. He spent 4 months in the NICU at St. Louis Children's Hospital. He is truly a gift from God! We witnessed more miracles during those 4 months that even amazed his Neonatologists and his team of nurses. He's our miracle child!

Jacob's birthday every year is never celebrated on just one day...it's always a week long celebration. To kick things off this year, last Saturday, we had a paintball party with kids and parents.

To stick with the paintball  theme, I made camouflage invitations:

  • The card base is Basic Black Card Stock.
  • I took Whisper White Card Stock and sponged areas in Old Olive, Soft Suede and Always Artichoke.
  • I punched a 1-3/4" Circle in the center and used my Paper Snips to cut out section in an attempt to look like a gun shot and attached to the front of the card base.
  • For the  Bulls Eye I used the following circles punches; 1-3/4", 1-3/8", 1-1/4", 1", 3/4", 1/2" and drew the cross with a Basic Black Stampin Write Marker.

My husbands cousin, Nancy Roberson owns Artistry On Cakes.  She is so very talented and has won so many awards for her cakes. Here she is with one of my all-time favs, Duff Goldman from Charm City Cakes:

Sticking with the Paintball theme, this is the cake Nancy made for Jacob:

Here we are after 4 hours of paintball... tired, muddy, and a little sore : )

Here's my little warrior.

These are the Thank You pillow boxes I made to match the decorations:

Happy Birthday Jacob! I love you!!

  1. Very clever, Beth! I always liked using the pillow box die and was bummed that it retired. Love how you created it here AND that the size can be customized a bit. Wonderful project!
