Thank You All For Your Thoughts & Prayers!

During the time of sorrow we learn just how much our friends and family mean to us. Your kind and thoughtful expressions of sympathy are deeply appreciated.

I hope to complete some projects this weekend and will be back to blogging next week.

With many thanks,
Beth

With A Heavy Heart

A car crashed into a construction zone this morning on Interstate 64 in O'Fallon, Illinois, killing construction worker, Dennis Beard, a member of our family, who was 38 years old and had 3 little children.

I write this with a heavy heart trying to understand this horrific accident and ask that you say a prayer for the Beard family, the three workers with severe injuries and my two step sons whose lives were spared today.

Please remind everyone you know to PLEASE slow down in construction zones.

Congratulations Graduate

Today's card is a simple graduation card I whipped up in a hurry. We were about to leave for a graduation party and at the last minute I realized I had no card! My husband suggested we can stop on the way and buy one...eekkks! Purchase a card...NEVER! I told him to start the car and I'll be ready in 5 minutes. No time to fret, I needed to get busy.
  1. I began with a piece of Naturals Ivory Card Stock that measured 5-1/4" x 10-1/2", scored and 5-1/4" and folded in half.
  2. Cut a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" square in Textured Basic Black Card Stock.
  3. Folded approx. a 4" piece of Basic Black Satin Ribbon in half and attached with a black brad.
  4. Popped it up on 4 Stampin' Dimensionals and stamped Congratulations.
  5. Rounded the corners, signed the inside and inserted a check.
  6. Done and out the door in less than 5....now that's fast!

We Make A Living

An employee of mine retired last week and he is was a very giving man, always thinking of others, so I thought this stamp set was so fitting. I tried to keep the card clean & simple , but in the end I chose to soften it will a little ribbon and matching button. The black in the upper right hand corner is a top note I cut into quarters. The reason it's there is to hide a blemish I got onto the card front at the last moment. It was late, I was tired and didn't want to start over again. Plus, I don't know about you, but my projects never look as good the 2nd time around. The original always looks better to me, so I just rolled with it : )

Stamps: Occasional Quotes
Paper: Crumb Cake Card Stock (120953), Basic Black Card Stock (121045), Whisper White Card Stock (100730), Crumb Cake Patterns Designer Series Paper (117157)
Ink: Jet Black StazOn (101406)
Tools: Top Note Die (113463), Big Shot Die Cutting Machine (113439), Extra Large Oval Punch (119859)
Accessories: Crumb Cake 1/2" Seam Binding (122332), Hemp Twine (100982), Crumb Cake Button (119743), Black Brads. To watch the video on how to heat emboss a brad to change the color, please click here.
