Milk Chocolate Peppermint Bark

Hello Friends!

I'm still not getting much stamping done, but I do have another recipe to share with you. I found this recipe from allrecipes.com for Milk Chocolate Peppermint Bark. If your looking for a sweet treat that is super easy and makes a very thoughtful last minute gift to share with friends & family, try this one...only three steps!

Directions
  1. Line a 12x18 inch jelly roll pan with aluminum foil.
  2. Melt the milk chocolate in a microwave-safe glass or ceramic bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring after each melting, for 1 to 5 minutes (depending on your microwave). Do not overheat or chocolate will scorch. Stir in the peppermint extract. Spread the chocolate evenly in the prepared pan; chill until set, about 30 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe glass or ceramic bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring after each melting, for 1 to 5 minutes. Stir in 1/4 cup of the crushed candy canes. Spread the white chocolate mixture evenly over the milk chocolate. Sprinkle the remaining candy cane pieces evenly over the white chocolate layer. Chill until set, about 1 hour. Break into small pieces to serve.

Sweet Treats

Happy Monday Friends!

I spent the past two days baking and making candy.  I haven't been able to do any stamping, but I found a recipe on Pinterest that's the BOMB! I adore Heath Candy Bars and this English Toffee recipe tastes just like them...only better. I was reluctant at first, I normally shy away from recipes that require a candy thermometer, but I just had to try this one. It was so easy and took a little patience waiting for the toffee to reach 300 degrees, but it was soooo worth it. I'm going package the majority for gifts, otherwise I'll eat it all myself.

I used a jelly roll pan, which is a little bigger than a normal cookie sheet, so I added more chocolate and nuts. I used 12 oz. of chocolate candy coating instead of the Hershey Bar and grated it with my cheese grater.

Grandma Louise’s English Toffee

Ingredients
  • Recipe from Ruthie
  • 1 lb real butter
  • 3/4 C water
  • 2 1/2 C sugar
  • 1/4 C Karo syrup
  • 2/3 C finely ground nuts (we use walnuts), divided
  • 1- 8 oz Hershey Chocolate bar, finely shred 1/2 of it
Instructions
  1. On an un-sprayed cookie sheet, spread 1/3 C ground nuts and finely shredded chocolate. (sprinkle evenly)
  2. In a heavy 4 quart pan on medium heat melt butter, add sugar, water, karo.
  3. Insert candy thermometer and turn up the heat to medium high cook to 300 degrees, hard crack (280 for high elevations). Stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. Pour quickly onto cookie sheet. (be very careful, the mixture is dangerously hot!)
  4. Separate remaining chocolate into squares and set on toffee, when it starts to melt push the chocolate around with a knife until completely melted, and spread evenly over toffee.
  5. Top with remaining nuts.
  6. Cool for 2 hours in a cool place. Break into pieces and serve.
Enjoy!

Do Not Open Til Christmas

 Hello Friends,

Today I wanted to show you another style of Christmas tags I'm making. I used a lot of different tools and a variety of supplies, but it really didn't take long to create...it just looks like it did. I've listed the steps below and if you would like to print this post, click on the Print PDF button at the bottom, near my signature.
  • For the base I used the Two Tags Bigz die (115954) in Early Espresso CS (119686)
  • Layered 2-3/8" x 3-5/8" Crumb Cake CS (120953, rounded corners using 3/16" Corner punch (119871)
  • Then layered Always Artichoke (105119) 2-1/4" x 3-1/2", rounded corners, stamped images from Joyous Celebrations stamp set (128069) in Always Artichoke ink (126972). Embossed using the lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Folder (127819) and lightly sponged raised embossed images in Crumb Cake ink (126975)
  • Attached 3-3/4" piece of Crumb Cake Seam Binding (122332)
  • Using the Decorative label punch (120907), punch 1 in Early Espresso CS and 1 in Always Artichoke CS. Cut Early Espresso in half and attach to Always Artichoke. Attach with Stampin Dimensionals (104430)
  • Cut doily using the Delicate Doilies Sizzlits die (126999) in Champagne Glimmer Paper (127885) and attach with Stampin Dimensional
  • Punch 1" Circle (119868 ) in Early Espresso CS & then layer 3/4" (119873) Always Artichoke circle. Poke hole in center using Paper Piercer and attach Antique Brad (117273), then attach to Champagne Glimmer doily
  • Feed 6" piece of Always Artichoke Seam Binding (121000) through hole at top of tag
  • Tie 6" piece of Linen Thread (104199) around seam binding and tie bow
  • Stamp Do Not Open Til Christmas from More Merry Messages stamp set (126402) in Early Espresso ink. Punch using 1" Circle Punch and sponge edges and attach brad from Antique Brass Vintage Trinkets (118764)
  • Layer over 1-1/4" circle of Champagne Glimmer.
  • Punch hole using Paper Piercer and attack to seam binding with Antique Brass Vintage Pin(118764)

Reindeer Noses

Happy Monday Friends!

Today's project is Reindeer Noses. I use to make these to send to school with my son when he was younger.  This year, I'm making a few for the grandchildren.

  • I cut Crumb Cake card stock (120953) with the Fancy Favor Bigz Die (115965) and the Big Shot (113439).
  •  Sponged the edges in Soft Suede Ink (126978).
  • Cut the front of the box using a Apothecary Accents Framelits (127003), so you can see the noses, which are Malted Milk Balls and a Red Gumball in a 4" x 6" Cellophane Bag (102757).
  • Tie the bag with Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding (120992) into a double bow. To watch the video on how I tie a double bow, please click here.
  • Stamp December 25, from Joyous Celebrations stamp set (128069), in Early Espresso Ink  (126974) onto Crumb Cake card stock (120953). Punch out using the 1-1/4" Circle Punch(119861).
  • Sponge edges.
  • Layer onto 1-3/8" Circle ( 119860) in Cherry Cobbler CS (119685)
  •  Cut smallest doilie using the Delicate Doilies Sizzlits Die (126999) in Champagne Glimmer Paper (Holiday Catalog 127885).
  • Attach to ribbon with Linen Thread (104199)
  • Below is the poem I printed onto Whisper White CS and cut to 3" x 3".
  • Layered onto Cherry Cobbler CS 3-1/4" x 3/4".
  • Stamped deer from the the No Peeking stamp set ( 126292) in Crumb Cake ink (126975) over poem and attached to the back of the box.

Rudolph has been busy
guiding Santa's sleigh
his nose has been glowing
through December night and day.
Well as you can imagine
the glow gets a little dim
so Santa has arranged
some spare noses just for him!
Inside this bag you'll find
spare noses for that deer
lovingly packed by Santa
with lots of Christmas cheer.

Paper: Crumb Cake card stock (120953), Champagne Glimmer Paper (Holiday Catalog 127885), Cherry Cobbler CS (119685),
