PPA 281 - sketch challenge

We have a sketch challenge this week for you at Pals Paper Arts. Mine is a Christmas card, because I'm still making them...all the way up to Christmas Eve! They are my favorite kind of card to make.

Did you notice the new blog banner?  Two days before Christmas, a thousand things left to do,  I take a break from cleaning, cooking, wrapping and decide to re-vamp my blog! I even changed platforms today and then changed everything back...yikes! What was I thinking? Yes, I'm impulsive and yes, I get side tracked very easily :)  After Christmas, I'll finish the changes, so everything is neat and tidy (er).

  • For the sentiment, I used Endless Wishes. It's a lovely little stamp set with every perfect greeting for Christmas.
  • The DSP is Merry Moments. I love the colors; Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Real Red, Smoky Slate, Whisper White.

  • The accessories are from the Home for Christmas collection in the Holiday Catalog. The colors and the shapes of the buttons are so cute!
  • The Gold Cording  is my favorite. It ties beautifully!

I wish you and your family a very, merry Christmas!

PPA 279 - a color challenge

If you're needing some inspiration to finish making your Christmas cards, we have just the thing this week at Pals Paper Arts. The challenge this week is to create a card using Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow and Gold Foil.

  • I wanted holly leaves but I don't have a punch or die, so I took a scrap piece of Mossy Meadow CS, folded it in half and used a 1" and 3/4" circle punches to make the leaves. I then gave them a quick sponging. At a distance they don't look too bad...just don't look real close :)
  • The Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding is now retired, which I just realized as I'm writing this post. However, you could easily substitute Real Red Cotton Ribbon or Striped Grosgrain or use and White Seam binding and  ink color of your choice and color your own. I have done that many times when I needed a specific color.

PPA 277 - a sketch challenge

During this time of Thanksgiving celebration my thoughts turn gratefully to you with warm appreciation!

If you get a chance to squeeze a little crafting time in this week between cooking, spending time with family and shopping, we have a sketch challenge this week at Pals Paper Arts. It's a simple sketch with so many possibilities. I hope you find the time to play along with us this week.

  • For my project, I started with black and metallic gold striped paper from the Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP from the holiday catalog. It is the most beautiful paper.

  • To soften the card, I covered it with the Winter Wonderland Vellum, which is also very pretty. My remedial photography skills, do not do it justice.
  • To continue the black and gold theme, I added some Gold Cording Trim, embossed the greeting in gold onto black card stock and added some some gorgeous Gold Satin Ribbon.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and thank you for visiting!
